Collecting guest info on registrations

If your event provides the attendees who register with an option to bring a guest, there are two main ways that you can collect the guest info, depending on which meets your needs best, as outlined below.

Option 1: Use Custom Form Fields via Same Registration

When you are creating your event, you can create a custom form field on an event's registration form, which asks for the potential name of the attendee's guest. Then, when you export the data out in order to have all the registration info for the purpose of printing name badges or anything else, it would show up with the registered attendee.

Note: This option will not register the guest separately to the event or count them as part of the total number of attendees at the event. This option will also not provide any notification of registration or information about the event to the guest themselves.

Option 2: Use Price Categories via Separate Registration

When you are creating your event, you can create a second pricing category on an event's registration form and title it something like Guest of Event Attendee. You would associate this category with a price of $0 (or free) unless there is a fee for a guest. This way your attendee can register themselves to the general paid category, and when they finish their registration, they would use the option to register another person. They would then register their guest using the guest pricing category.
In this case, you may also want to cross-reference the attendee name and the guest name on the registration forms. This can be done by creating custom form fields on the registration form that ask the attendee to reference the name of their guest and the guest to reference the name of the attendee they are coming with.

Note: This option will register the guest separately to the event and include them as part of the total number of attendees at the event. When you export the data, it will also give you their name and any other info you may wish to collect on the registration form. This option will also send the guest a confirmation and reminder email about the event, whereas the other will not.
