Key Clarifications
Financial Metrics Explained
Total Paid vs Total Received vs Revenue Expected
- Total Paid: Raw amount paid by attendees (includes taxes and fees)
- Total Received: Amount you actually receive (Total Paid minus Stripe fees)
- Revenue Expected: Your business revenue (Total Paid + Pending minus taxes)
What's Included vs Excluded
- Taxes: Added to amounts but already included in totals (not additional)
- Add-ons: Part of the total paid/pending amounts (not additional)
- Discounts: Already subtracted from all values
- Refunds: Already subtracted from all values
- Stripe Fees: Deducted from received amounts
Time Period Applications
Overall Report: No time filtering - shows all-time data
Events Report: Time range applies to event start and end dates
- An event starting in January and ending in February will appear in reports for both months
- Event creation date is shown separately in charts
Attendee Report: Time range applies to attendee registration dates
- When someone registered, not when the event takes place and sometimes not when payment was made
- Useful for tracking registration patterns and marketing effectiveness
By understanding these distinctions, you can better interpret your data and make informed decisions about your events and attendee registrations.
Common Confusions
- Why don't the numbers match between reports?
- Different reports use different time filtering criteria
- Overall Report shows all-time data while others are time-filtered
- Why is Total Expected less than Total Paid + Pending?
- Stripe fees are deducted from the expected amount
- This represents what you'll actually receive
- Are taxes extra income?
- No, taxes are already included in Total Paid amounts
- They're shown separately for accounting purposes
- What counts as 'within time period'?
- Events Report: Event start/end dates
- Attendee Report: Registration dates
- Overall Report: No time restriction
Corsizio versus Stripe Report Discrepancies
The numbers for the financial totals that you get on Corsizio will vary compared to what you see in your Stripe account based on what report and date range you are looking at.
Things to keep in mind when analyzing financial values in Corsizio reports versus your Stripe account:
- When were the registration records created? They are normally submitted in advance of any event taking place.
- Are you looking at an aggregation of registrations or events? Very different points of view when it comes to aggregate numbers.
- When did the payment transaction take place in relation to a registration? This will still be considered part of the record date on the aggregation reports, and it will differ from what Stripe is concerned with.
- Were there other payments processed for the same registration later? This occurs when collecting a deposit and a later payment. This will still be considered part of the record date on the aggregation reports, and it will differ from what Stripe is concerned with.
- Were there offline payments recorded in Corsizio, but have nothing to do with Stripe?
- Were there other payments collected using Stripe from other sources that have nothing to do with Corsizio?
- Stripe is the source to consult to know when actual payment transactions took place at the exact moment in time for banking or accounting purposes. They have no concept of payments for either past or future events. They only consider payments at a specific moment in time.
In summary, trying to match numbers from two different systems that use different data creation types, ranges, or perspectives will not yield satisfactory results. The date range differs between the two aggregate reports and Stripe, as each report applies to a different date field and perspective. The source of truth for exact payments processed (for accounting needs) should be Stripe and the bank account. They provide you with the precise revenue received in hand and on which day. Corsizio will only summarize and aggregate registrations and their numbers based on the perspective within its system, only considering events and registrations to which payments are attached, regardless of the payment processing date.
