Changing the owner of an account
Each Corsizio account has one owner who is, by default, the person who created the account. If you need to change the ownership of the account, how you proceed will depend on whether you are the owner or not.
NOTE — Given that the account owner has access to billing and bank account information, for the benefit and security of all of our users, Corsizio cannot switch account ownership unless the proper verification is provided.
If you are the current account owner
To change the owner from yourself to another person, there must be at least one admin user in the account to whom you can transfer the ownership. Assuming this is the case, follow the steps below.
STEP 1: From your Corsizio dashboard, go to Settings using the primary menu at the top and select "Users List" from the left sidebar.
STEP 2: Within the "Owner" section on the page, click the "Change Owner" button.
STEP 3: A window will appear with instructions to "Select an admin user". Using the dropdown menu, choose the admin user who will become the new account owner.
STEP 4: Click the "Send Change Request" to initiate the ownership transfer.
- Once you have completed this step, an email will be sent to the selected admin user, and they must click the link in the email to accept ownership. The link is valid for only 10 days.
- Once accepted, ownership transfers immediately and both you and the new owner will receive confirmation emails of the ownership change.
NOTE — The ownership change is not complete until the selected admin user accepts the request via email. If you change your mind about this ownership change before the new owner accepts it, you can cancel the request from the same area.
Keep in mind the following takes place after the ownership change:
- You will lose ownership privileges.
- The new owner becomes responsible for billing and payments.
- The new owner gains complete control over the account.
- Your role will change to "admin" user after the transfer.
- If you no longer want or need to have access to the account, the new owner or another admin on the account can remove your access.
- You can proceed to entirely delete your user login from Corsizio if you will no longer be using the service.
ALERT — Before changing account ownership, be sure to check and update, if applicable, the account's Stripe connection, billing card, and any other sensitive info that you may lose access to.
If you are NOT the account owner
It is part of the Terms of Use that all users agree to when choosing to use Corsizio that the account owner's name, contact info, and account business name must be valid and maintained up-to-date.
- For example, if the account owner is leaving their position within their organization, they need to designate a new account owner and transfer ownership before becoming unreachable or losing access to their Corsizio login credentials.
- Likewise, the name of the account owner must always be a real person's name, not the name of a business, department, or job title, for proper accountability and security. Users who do not abide by the terms risk having their usage suspended and their account terminated.
- If the account owner's email address is part of your organization's email domain, work with your IT department to get access to that email address and reset the Corsizio account password to gain access to the Corsizio account as the owner. You can then update the account user info and change ownership if needed.
If the above does not apply in your case because the previous owner's email address is not associated with an organization, please send us a support request explaining the circumstances. We will determine, on a case-by-case basis, whether additional verification measures can be taken to transfer ownership and salvage the account to resume normal activity.
Other account users
Any users added to the account as admins have most of the same privileges as the owner, except for the ability to change the Stripe-connected account when accepting online payments or the ability to change or remove the owner. Therefore, be extra vigilant and make sure you fully trust the person you provide with "admin" access to your Corsizio account.
Any user added to the account under the role of editor, facilitator, or viewer has further limitations on what they can or cannot do within the account.
To view the users on the account and review their roles, go to Settings and then the Users List (see the screenshot above).
