Payment types for events

There are many different payment types that you may be considering for your events. The following help doc will help you understand which ones Corsizio supports and how they are handled.

Supported Payment Types

Credit Card Payments

Credit cards, such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, and JCB, are the primary online payment methods accepted as payment for your events. Credit card payments are processed by Stripe (our chosen payment processor), and no credit card numbers are stored on Corsizio's servers.

To accept credit card payments, you need to connect your bank account to Corsizio via Stripe and operate in one of the currencies accepted by Stripe and offered on Corsizio. Credit card payments can be accepted automatically as part of the attendee's registration or be manually entered by you during manual registrations.

You can also accept credit card payments as offline payments if you have a card processing terminal.

FSA credit card payments are also accepted but require special authorization from Stripe. To accept these payments for your registrations, contact Stripe to have them approve your account or explain how to configure it to allow for these cards. The configuration is not done on our end but within your Stripe account.

Stripe Terminal Readers are currently not supported on Corsizio to accept point-of-sale credit card payments, as the platform's current focus is online event registrations and not e-commerce sales. However, you can accept manual credit card payments from your attendees anytime.

Debit Card Payments

Debit cards are the next most popular online payment method accepted as payment for your events. Debit card payments work the same as credit card payments. They are processed by Stripe (our chosen payment processor), and no debit card numbers are stored on Corsizio's servers.

To accept debit card payments, you need to connect your bank account to Corsizio via Stripe and operate in one of the currencies accepted by Stripe and offered on Corsizio.

You can also accept debit card payments, like credit cards, as offline payments if you have a card processing terminal.

Checks

You can accept checks as an offline payment method on Corsizio.

Cash

You can accept cash as an offline payment method on Corsizio.

Bank Money Transfers

You can accept bank money transfers as an offline payment method on Corsizio.

  • For example, in Canada, your registrants can pay you via an e-transfer by Interac, which you can enter as an offline payment.

Gift Certificates / Vouchers

You can accept gift certificates or vouchers as an offline payment method on Corsizio, but no such feature is currently available for online purchases.

A possible way to achieve a result, like a gift certificate or credit voucher, is to use the coupon feature, where you would provide a physical or digital voucher to the party buying the certificate for a specific event with a unique coupon code.

For example, make a coupon code as the person's name or something equally personal for that individual and make the coupon for 100% off if the event registration is meant to be fully prepaid. Then, when the recipient receives the gift certificate coupon and registers for the event on the certificate, they enter the coupon code found on their voucher and receive that discounted rate. Please keep in mind that this method will record a discount in the system and your reports; it will not record this as revenue.

Other

You can accept "other" methods of payment, such as barter, energy exchange, or gift economy, as an offline payment method on Corsizio.

Not Supported Payment Types

PayPal

To keep the service as simple, effective, and efficient as possible for everyone, Corsizio does not use other payment processors besides Stripe for online payments. Therefore, PayPal is not supported, as it is another payment processor that would be redundant for our platform.

Apple Pay and Google Pay

Both are digital wallet services and are not available as online payment methods on Corsizio.

Alipay

Alipay is a digital wallet service in China and is not available as an online payment method on Corsizio, given that Corsizio does not operate in the Chinese market.

ACH Payments

ACH payments are electronic payments made through the Automated Clearing House ( ACH) Network. Funds move from one bank account to another with the help of a centralized system that directs funds to their final destination. While Stripe does support ACH payments for US-based businesses, Corsizio does not offer this payment method for your registrations for several reasons, as follows: ACH payments do not provide immediate funds, the process required to verify and receive ACH payments is cumbersome, it requires an integration through yet another system - Plaid, there is a higher refund and dispute risk, and it is not an optimized or easy payment method for our customers to deal with. Please refer to Stripe's ACH Guide to learn more about this process.

Other

Other payment methods, which are solely focused on or only available in a limited geographic area, like Bancontact, Giropay, iDEAL, SEPA Direct Debit, SOFORT, or Paynow, are not available as online payment methods on Corsizio.
